The world of art has always been a part of my life.  I began drawing and painting when I was a small child, and have continued to do so throughout my adult life. I have worked as a docent in museums, have been a student of fine arts, a museum professional and, now, a working artist.

I paint on location whenever I can. When I stand at my easel and begin to paint, I am overwhelmed by the beauty and serenity that is before me—whether in Sonoma County or in places I visit in my travels. I am drawn to the ever-changing patterns found in nature. My goal is to capture on canvas or paper the light and color of that moment in time.

Location painting means working quickly to get an impression down before the light changes too much. Winter days find me in my studio, painting from the many photos I have taken.

My subjects range from landscapes—both natural and those enhanced by man—to people and places…whatever catches my eye.

I received my degree in Fine Arts in painting from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California, and then went on to do a Master’s Degree in Museology (Exhibit Design) at John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, California. I worked for some time in various Bay Area museums, designing and installing exhibitions ranging from history to fine art.

A few years ago I returned to my first love, painting. I studied with Richard McDaniel in Santa Rosa, California and Provence, France, with Albert Handell and Anita West in Sausalito, California, with Bob Rohm in Sebastopol, California, and at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. I live in Santa Rosa with my husband, Bob, and our dog, Maggie.
